About La’Keisha Sutton

La’Keisha Sutton is a passionate coach, mentor, speaker, author, and influencer. She has dedicated her life to elevating the game of basketball while empowering athletes to reach their full potential both on and off the court. A standout at Trenton Catholic Academy, La’Keisha led her team to two consecutive New Jersey state championships and was named the 2008 New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year. She finished her high school career with nearly 2,000 points, earning multiple All-State and All-County honors.

La’Keisha gained national notoriety at the University of South Carolina, where she played four seasons and became the first recruit for the legendary Coach Dawn Staley’s program. Her standout play, leadership, and connection with fans earned her the nickname “Fan Favorite” from Coach Nikki McCray-Penson. During her college career, she scored nearly 1,300 points and helped lead the Gamecocks to their first-ever Sweet Sixteen appearance in 2012, cementing her reputation as both a skilled athlete and a leader on and off the court.

Following college, La’Keisha played professionally internationally in Taiwan, Finland, Ecuador, Germany, and Bulgaria, and in 2018 joined the Harlem Globetrotters, becoming one of the few women ever to play for the iconic team. Her experience as a player instilled a deep understanding of the game, a commitment to excellence, and an appreciation for the unique challenges athletes face; lessons she now passes on to the next generation.

As a coach and trainer, La’Keisha has led multiple teams to success at premier programs including the Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL), Nike Academy, and Mamba Sports Academy. She specializes in developing athletes’ basketball IQ, skill, and leadership, guiding many on their journey to earning full scholarships at top basketball programs. To further her mission, La’Keisha founded the Fan Favorite Club, where she trains athletes to value both their academic and athletic potential, teaching the discipline, focus, and mindset required to succeed as student-athletes.

La’Keisha is also an accomplished author of From the Projects to Fan Favorite, sharing her journey, lessons learned, and insights to inspire young athletes and communities. She’s also appeared as a player in White Men Can’t Jump (2023).

Beyond training and coaching, La’Keisha engages audiences as a speaker and mentor, emphasizing resilience, leadership, and personal growth. She has become a trusted brand partner and influencer, collaborating with top organizations such as Nike, Disney, WNBA, Gatorade, SportsCenter, Wilson, and BodyArmor, helping brands authentically connect with athletes, communities, and fans through basketball and culture.

Whether on the court, on stage, or in partnership with brands, La’Keisha Sutton brings passion, expertise, and vision to everything she does. Her work continues to inspire athletes, families, and organizations alike, creating opportunities for growth, impact, and lasting success in basketball and beyond.
